The Northwest District is a section of the North Carolina Bandmasters Association. Membership is made up of band directors from Davidson, Forsyth, Stokes, Surry, Yadkin, Davie, Iredell, Alexander, Aleghany, Wilkes, Ashe, Watagua, Caldwell, Burke, Avery, and McDowell counties.

The district coordinates events for students for Concert, Marching, Jazz, and Solo & Ensemble events throughout the year. The District has a strong history of sponsoring commissioned works from well-know composers. Many of the works commissioned by the NW District are on the NC State Music Performance Adjudication music lists.
